Wine Spectator is the world's leading wine publication and has, since 1981, awarded restaurants worldwide for their wine programmes, high levels of gastronomy, service and atmosphere. We are proud to announce that our client, PM & Vänner, is the first restaurant in Sweden to receive this elusive prize, securing a place as one of the world's best dining destinations.

PM & Vänner restaurant in Småland has, since the 1990's been a well-kept secret among gourmets. Known for its regional cuisine, based on the philosophy of three cornerstones: forest, lake and meadow, the restaurant produces culinary masterpieces using local produce. In 2014, the restaurant expanded to include an eponymous gastro hotel designed by Lindvall A & D. With 74 unique rooms and suites, a rooftop bar and pool and a florist, PM & Vänner hotel realised the dream of PM & Vänner's Creative Director and co-founder Per Bengtsson, to create a destination based on gastronomy and style. Inspired by the nature and crafts heritage of the region, the concept was to create a hotel that felt cosmopolitan, while remaining deeply rooted in its surroundings. Öland limestone, Småland oak and design classics from Carl Malmsten, combined with unique pieces designed by the architect contribute to the stylish, modern interior and pay a fitting tribute to a region known for its outstanding beauty.

Since the hotel's opening, PM & Vänner has fulfilled Bengtsson's ambition, attracting aficionados from around the world and amassing a host of accolades along the way. In 2016 PM & Vänner restaurant was awarded a Michelin star and the hotel was awarded "three red houses" by the renowned Michelin Guide. PM & Vänner's latest award pays further tribute to Bengtsson and the team's dedication to dining and hospitality and places it high up the bucket list as a destination worth making a special trip for.
